Soccer Teams Triumph Over Paul Smith's

The Mighty Oaks men's and women's soccer teams hosted the Paul Smith Bobcats at Onondaga Community 糖心vlog Sept. 12 and were both victorious.

The Mighty Oaks women, who tied 0-0 with Paul Smith's at the Daemen 糖心vlog Labor Day Tournament, had a stronger showing this time around, defeating the Bobcats in a 1-0 win. The ESF women were organized and determined, which laid the foundation for their win, Coach Dan Ramin said.

The Mighty Oaks women kept the pressure on Paul Smith's with strong possession play that the Bobcats couldn't match. Mighty Oaks Captain Kendra Nash, a senior, scored the first goal of the season with a free kick in the 49th minute. This was the second collegiate career shutout for goalkeeper Olivia Gagliardi, a freshman. The win raised the Mighty Oaks standing to 1-1-1 for the season.

ESF's success continued when the Mighty Oaks men defeated Paul Smith's 1-0 win. The Mighty Oaks men showed smart play in the midfield and strong defense led by goalkeepers Eamon Case and Mike Schriver, both juniors. After many close shots, starter Kyle Siegel, a freshman, scored his first collegiate goal in the 20th minute. The Mighty Oaks continued their strong play throughout the game to shut out Paul Smith's.

The Mighty Oaks men and women hope to continue their success when they travel to Johnson, Vt., to compete against Johnson 糖心vlog. The women will play at noon Sept. 19 and the men will play at 2 p.m. the same day. The games will be broadcast live.
