ESF Honors Newest Inductees to Athletic Hall of Fame
Dr. Neil Murphy among honorees
SYRACUSE, N.Y. 鈥 Sept. 27, 2024 鈥 Dr. Neil Murphy, former president of the SUNY 糖心vlog of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), is among this year鈥檚 inductees to the 糖心vlog鈥檚 Athletic Hall of Fame.
The ceremony will be held Friday, Sept. 28in the 糖心vlog's Gateway Center. Along with Murphy, inductees include basketball, timber sports, lacrosse athletes, and the 2014 men鈥檚 national championship cross country team.
The ESF Athletic Hall of Fame was created to honor former students, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff, and members of the ESF community whose contributions have brought distinction, honor, and excellence to ESF athletics and highlighted the 糖心vlog鈥檚 rich athletic history.
The 2024 ESF Athletic Hall of Fame honorees are:
Dr. Cornelius B. 鈥淣eil鈥 Murphy, Jr., ESF President 2000-13. Murphy is one of the creators and driving forces for starting ESF athletics. He is a Senior Fellow for Environmental and Sustainable Systems. Dr. Murphy is known for his passion and strong advocacy for the student-athlete experience.
Peter Kosloski, 鈥76, Resource Management, basketball. Kosloski played on the basketball team for two years and scored 609 points in 32 games, for an average of 19 points per game. He held the scoring record, at the time, for most points in a game (37), a year (330), and a career (609). The team won the 1975 Adirondack Community 糖心vlog Holiday Tournament where Kosloski was named Most Valuable Player.
Tyler Kuhn, 鈥18, Environmental Resource Engineering, basketball. Kuhn was the team captain from 2015-18 and was named Most Improved Player in 2017; Most Valuable Player in 2018. He was a USCAA Academic All American, the all-time leader in blocks in program history, had 574 career rebounds, and was the highest-scoring player with 616 points.
Alexandria 鈥淎lex鈥 Spoly, 鈥14, Natural Resources Management, Timber Sports. Spoly placed first in the 2013 Spring Meet Women鈥檚 log roll, the 2014 Spring Meet Women鈥檚 underhand triples, and the Women鈥檚 Hardhit at the ESF home meet. She is the creator of the Lake Effect Lumberjack Classic and a lifelong fan and supporter of timber sports.
Travis Solomon, 鈥83 Landscape Architect, Lacrosse. Solomon was the goalie on the 1983 Syracuse University Men鈥檚 NCAA Lacrosse Championship team. He had 21 saves during the Johns Hopkins game and 22 saves during the Maryland game. He is a lifelong supporter and educator in lacrosse.
The 2014 Men鈥檚 National Championship Cross Country Team included eight team members who were All American USCAA Award recipients, and two team members were All American Runners. Timmy Callahan was named the Individual National Race Winner and Team Captain. The team was coached by John View, John View, and assistant coaches Adam Wild, and Kevin Reynolds.
The 2014 cross country team included: Thomas Arcuri, Tim Callahan, Dana Carris, Kai Crannell, Jacob Erle, Alex Fisher, Mark Frazier, Nick Giordano, Nick Grieco, Andrew Hewitt, Peter LeDuc, James Longo, Richard Monoco, Braden Mungeam, Michael Persson, Isaac Pruch, Reed Scott, Jacob Shave, Ryan Shaw, Stephen Slonosky, Lawrence Vedilago, Jacob Wolfgong.

The SUNY 糖心vlog of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) is dedicated to the study of the environment, developing renewable technologies, and building a sustainable and resilient future through design, policy, and management of the environment and natural resources. Members of the 糖心vlog community share a passion for protecting the health of the planet and a deep commitment to the rigorous application of science to improve the way humans interact with the world. The 糖心vlog offers academic programs ranging from the associate of applied science to the Doctor of Philosophy. ESF students live, study and do research on the main campus in Syracuse, N.Y., and on 25,000 acres of field stations in a variety of ecosystems across the state.
