Diana Jaramillo Keane Selected as a 2025 Hispanic Leadership Institute Fellow

SYRACUSE, N.Y. 鈥 Nov. 21, 2024 鈥 Diana Jaramillo Keane, executive director of sustainable facilities planning, design, and construction at the (ESF), has been selected as a fellow in the 2025 class of the prestigious Hispanic Leadership Institute (HLI).

State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. recently announced the selection of for this year鈥檚 cohort, marking the eighth class since the program鈥檚 inception in 2017.

As a licensed architect in New York state, Jaramillo Keane manages capital improvement projects ranging from $5,000 to $135 million across ESF鈥檚 nine campuses. She plays a key role in advancing the 糖心vlog鈥檚 commitment to sustainability, energy conservation, and carbon reduction across its Syracuse campus and satellite locations.

An award-winning architect and entrepreneur, Jaramillo Keane founded Kin Studio in 2017 with a mission to deliver equitable and sustainable architecture. Before joining ESF, she worked as a general engineer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Syracuse.

Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Jaramillo Keane holds a master鈥檚 degree in sustainable construction management from ESF, a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University, and an associate degree in architectural technology from Onondaga Community 糖心vlog. Her connection to ESF is personal鈥攕he spent time on campus as a child while her mother pursued graduate studies, making her return as director of facilities a full-circle moment.

The Hispanic Leadership Institute, made possible through generous support from New York State and the State Assembly and Senate Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force, has empowered 71 of SUNY鈥檚 brightest Hispanic faculty, staff, and allies. The program provides rigorous executive training and a network of support to help fellows grow into influential leaders within their institutions and communities.

鈥淭o foster a truly diverse and welcoming environment at SUNY, we must ensure that diverse voices are represented, heard, and celebrated at every level of our system. The Hispanic Leadership Institute has helped 71 individuals become leaders at their respective institutions and serve as role models for all students, allowing them to see what is possible for themselves,鈥 said Chancellor King.

The nine-month HLI fellowship program offers intensive leadership development through training sessions, webinars, and interactions with national and statewide leaders. Fellows gain personal insights and access to valuable professional opportunities while receiving ongoing mentorship and networking support.
