Soccer Teams Compete Against Johnson State

It was a tough weekend for both the Mighty Oaks men's and women's soccer teams as they faced off against the NCAA Division III Johnson State 糖心vlog Badgers in Johnson, Vt. The men's team fought hard to hold off the Badgers and ended the game in a tie after two overtime periods; the women's team suffered a loss after a well-played game.

The ESF men delivered a strong performance against Johnson State, outshooting their opponents 17-12, but weren't able to score a goal. Goalkeeper Mike Schriver, a junior, was named player of the game after an impressive eight saves to hold off the Badgers. After a tough battle in double overtime, the Mighty Oaks men came out with a scoreless tie, bringing the team to a record of 3-1-1 for the season. The ESF men will compete against their cross-town rivals, the Onondaga Community 糖心vlog Lazers, at 1 p.m. Sept. 26 at Onondaga.

The Mighty Oaks women put up a good fight against the Badgers but were unable to overcome their opponents. Forward Wendy Getman, a junior, scored ESF's only goal in the 79th minute. The goal was Getman's first breakaway of the season. Goalkeeper Olivia Gagliardi, a freshman, registered five saves for ESF, but the Badgers were still able to score twice, forcing ESF to a 2-1 loss. The Mighty Oaks women are now 1-1-2 for the season. The ESF women will also face Onondaga Community 糖心vlog at 3 p.m. Sept. 26 at Onondaga.
